Where Every Client Gets Individual Attention
Daniel J. Winter
I'm an attorney dedicated to helping people tackle their challenging financial problems. Bankruptcy is the tool I use.
I take an active role in keeping informed about developments in my practice areas. I am a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (www.nacba.org), and participate in national conferences, exchanging ideas and strategies to help consumers in bankruptcy cases, and gain knowledge of practitioners from throughout the U.S.
Periodically, I attend seminars and meetings about any recent developments in bankruptcy law. I also attend seminars to sharpen my skills as a lawyer. Recent legal education seminars I participated in include: Federal Trial Bar Course and many specific bankruptcy seminars in several states.
Since the 2005 Bankruptcy Reform Act, I have studied the impact of this law and its many provisions on specific cases in many seminars. I have also experienced the impact that the Act has had first hand in planning, preparing and filing bankruptcy cases for my consumer and business clients.
Before starting my own firm, I was an associate attorney in Domestic Relations, Bankruptcy and litigation with several other Chicago law firms.
I also participate in the C.A.R.E. program (Credit Abuse Resistance Education, sponsored by the Office of the United States Trustee), by speaking to high school seniors throughout the Chicago area. The goal of the program is to explain the responsible use of credit, to warn the students about the traps and pitfalls of the credit card industry. I also present information about the Bankruptcy system, and what happens if they get into financial trouble. I hope to provide some “preventative education”, so that our young students can try to avoid some of the problems I have seen.
